Your official introduction to the project!🌱

[Image description: a green, gray, and white graphic slideshow of information, all text for each image can be found in alt text]

Graphic slideshow, text reads “Grayscale Sustainability. What is it?”. The logo of the project can also be seen.

Text reads “Story: Grayscale Sustainability began as an initiative from a partnership with Youth Challenge International, by participating in their six-months Youth Climate Leadership Program. When looking for a more specific topic than “climate change”, the concept of sustainability fit what we were looking for perfectly. Sustainability is more than just consuming less; for it to be possible, we must consider environment, economy, and equity.”

Text reads “People are not always aware of the intersectionality that exists within the environmental fight. Our individual characteristics place us in contexts in which we might be less or more likely to know how to fight climate change or to have the resources to do so. Feelings of anxiety and guilt also make it overwhelming and push us to ignore the problem as we tend to find ourselves alone in our environmental journey.”

Text reads “Our focus… will be to engage with the community around us and the environment, always from an intersectional perspective. We hope to help people become more aware of the crisis we are facing and the tools we can use to decrease its negative effects, therefore gaining the empowerment they need to create a more conscious community that cares and acts accordingly. Values: Intersectionality, connection, empowerment and accessibility.”

Text reads “How? Phase 1: Creating tools that facilitate the decision-making process when choosing which products we buy and the activities we engage in. We want to be transparent and give people the knowledge to make an informed choice, even if the most convenient product/activity is not the most environmentally friendly one. It’s important to consider what people care about, which option has more economic advantages? What about the social aspect Health? Which one is more sustainable?”

Logo of Grayscale Sustainability. Text reads “Nothing is black or white; everything is a grayscale.”
